Biden to deliver annual address to U.S. Congress on March 1st

US President Joe Biden accepted an invitation to deliver his annual address to Congress on March 1. This was announced on Friday, January 7, by the press secretary of the White House Karin Jean-Pierre.

“The President accepted the invitation of the Speaker of the House [представителей Нэнси Пелоси] to issue an address “On the State of the Union” on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, “she said.

For Biden, this will be his second appearance in front of both houses of Congress.

Biden delivered his first keynote speech on April 28 last year. Beginning his speech in Congress, the American leader greeted Vice President Kamala Harris and Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, and said that for the first time a woman speaker and the Vice President are also a woman.

On December 20, it became known that 55% of the country’s population did not like Joe Biden’s activities as President of the United States, including 44% strongly disapprove of the work of the American leader. This is Biden’s highest negative rating since taking office.

According to a similar poll published in October by NBC News, 54% of US citizens opposed Biden’s activities. At that time, the figure was up six points since August. In particular, seven out of 10 survey participants, almost half of whom are Democrats, believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.

At the same time, 42% of respondents were satisfied with the work of the American leader. This figure fell seven points compared to August.

It was noted that only Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump had a lower rate of approval for the activities of the President of the United States in 2017 (37%).
