The Public Prosecutor returned from a six-month medical leave less than a month ago and his replacement is already being considered in Parliament.
The senator for the National Party (PN), Sergio Botanaaccused the Public Prosecutor of the Court of the Republic, Juan Gomez to act in a political-partisan manner in favor of the Broad Front and even pointed out to the opposition not to give the votes in the Parliament to decide the replacement of the prosecutor.

All of these things have been reported to the Prosecutor’s Office and all of them have been delayed, or some of them have been archived because there were no elements or means to arrive at the final, definitive and final proof, when in reality there are other people who are in prison out of conviction, out of mere conviction that they committed some crimes,” he commented.
Gómez assumed the Office of the Prosecutor as a substitute three years ago after the resignation of Jorge Diaz. Currently, a new vote is being held in Parliament for a new incumbent to replace Gómez and, according to Botana, the Frente Amplio is putting obstacles in the way. “The Frente Amplio, which benefits from Gómez’s action and which has no republican spirit, will never have the majority.
