The legislator and coordinator of the campaign of Yamandú Orsi, Alejandro Sánchezassured that the presidential candidates of the Multicolor Coalition have a “Orsioobsession” and they spend their time looking at the politician’s agenda; in addition, he accused Luis Lacalle Pou’s administration of being dishonest.
A few weeks ago, Orsi’s campaign team decided that the candidate would not participate in some events where he would be exposed since they considered that the logic of the campaign was “coalition versus Broad Front“, which was not fair to the party.
This sparked criticism from the candidates, especially the Colorado one. Andres Ojedawho accused the Broad Front of “hiding” Orsi in events where they are exposed to debate, although he has participated in those where he does not have to present or exchange ideas with other politicians.
“We are not going to get involved in the controversy that everyone is involved in right now: the Orsi-obsession that some pro-government candidates have, where what they are doing every day is looking at Yamandú Orsi’s agenda,” Sánchez said in an interview with Channel 12.
A dishonest government
On the other hand, the campaign coordinator commented that Lacalle Pou’s government was not corrupt, but it was dishonest. “The government of Luis Lacalle Pou He has been dishonest on several occasions, including with Marset’s passport,” he said.
“We are not saying that it is a corrupt government, we are not suggesting that it is a corrupt government. dishonest in general. What we are saying is that there were acts of dishonesty that we pointed out and criticized,” he added.
In this regard, he stressed the importance of protecting the institutionality of the country, a differential that positions the Uruguay in the world. “One of the great intangibles that we have to protect is that of a country that is serious, responsible and that has a healthy political system, that is not corrupt, that manages to generate consensus based on dialogue and institutionality,” he stressed.
Focus on development
Meanwhile, Sánchez also commented that the idea of Orsi’s campaign is to focus on the development of the sectors of the Uruguay who are suffering the most today. In this regard, he commented that the campaign began in the north of the country because it is the one that needs the most attention.
“Part of the vision we have is that the Uruguay needs development and generating employment in the north, in the centre, on the coast or in the south of the country is not the same thing. It needs a tailor-made suit, the country cannot think about development from Montevideo,” he stressed.
“The works are there now, the problem is that in addition to creating roads and bridges, one has to create jobs and prosperity and that is what has not happened in the interior territories,” added the senator.
