The coalition parties are speeding up a coordination table in view of the plebiscites that will be voted on in October

He National Party (PN) and the Independent Party (PI)) launched a coalition unity campaign, led by the presidential candidates of the different forces, with the aim of promoting a unified position on the two plebiscites which will be defined in the October elections.

The staging of this shared position will materialize on Monday with a meeting of the candidates Alvaro Delgado (PN), Pablo Mieres (PI) and other leaders of these forces. The presidential candidates are also expected to participate Andres Ojeda of the Colorado Party (PC)and Guido Manini Rios of Open Town Hall (CA), Ambito knew.

The objective is to convey the consensus regarding the rejection of the plebiscite of constitutional reform of social securitypromoted by the PIT-CNTand support for the plebiscite for the night raidspromoted through parliament by the National Party, beyond the differences that may arise between the different parties of the coalition in the midst of the electoral campaign in other areas.

Last Tuesday, Delgado took the baton on coordinating actions in favor of night raids during his presentation before the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay (CCySUy). A day later, Mieres did the same, but with the topic of social security during his speech at a luncheon ADM (Marketing Managers Association).

“Mieres contacted his counterpart from the National Party to propose the creation of a coordination forum between the Republican Coalition partners that would allow them to promote a common strategy on the social security plebiscite, in the same sense as Delgado’s proposal to establish a joint line of action on the consultation regarding night raids,” the Independent Party reported.

The position of the coalition partners on both issues is unanimous. Regarding the plebiscite defended by the PIT-CNT, they warn about the effect it would have on the financial sustainability of the pension distribution system as well as the need to increase taxes to finance the changes proposed by the trade union.

A recent survey by Consultants Option showed a high degree of ignorance of the citizens regarding this plebiscite (44%), which would not reach the threshold of 50% plus one vote to be ratified, according to the same projection.

On the other hand, the one about night raids collects up to 65% of the support. Even the voters who identify with the Broad Front (FA) They are mostly in favour of the police being able to enter homes at night with judicial authorisation.
