Large-scale rescue operation at Attersee: child missing

Large contingent of emergency services at Lake Attersee
The water rescue service has been in operation since 1 p.m.

Eight fire brigades and water rescue teams from four local stations on Lake Attersee have been on duty for almost three hours after a child was reported missing at the Weyregg lido.

At around 1 p.m., bathers raised the alarm that a child had disappeared. When asked, rescue workers said it was unclear whether the child was in the water or on land. There is still hope that the child simply got lost and perhaps came out of the water at a different location.

Drones and boats are being used to search along the lake, and water rescue divers have also been in the water since 1:14 p.m. to search for the missing child.

Contradictory information

The press office of the Upper Austrian State Police Directorate received contradictory information on Friday afternoon. According to the local police, they are looking for a boy aged between twelve and fourteen, while according to the water rescue service, it is a girl of the same age. A spokeswoman told the OÖN this upon request. According to the police, witnesses last saw the missing child at the Weyregger lido at a diving tower, while according to the water rescue service, the accident site was a slide.

The article will be updated as soon as further information is available.
