The first Hoamat Open Air took place on the lawn of the Hoamat guesthouse in Haibach an der Donau as a “very small open-air event with around 200 people,” recalls its owner and festival organizer Franz Kaltseis. In 2017, the Seer came for the first time – and already ten times as many visitors.

From then on, the band stopped off in Haibach every two years. This year, too, on their farewell tour, the concert on August 22nd has been completely sold out for two months. “Everything here is still very family-like, not so crowded yet. We have a beautiful garden that is well looked after and is very popular with visitors. From the sloping lawn, you have a wonderful view of the Eferding Basin,” says Kaltseis, describing the secret of his festival’s success: “It’s simply home.”

It is by no means easy to organize the three concerts to everyone’s satisfaction. But the trained plant engineer, who runs a mechanical engineering company, is also a professional in this area: “We plan large industrial plants every day,” which benefits him as a festival organizer. “Every parking space, every car is precisely planned. We start setting up on Monday,” says Kaltseis, who is expecting 3,000 festival visitors this year.

On August 23, the Söhne Mannheims will give their Hoamat premiere. The ten-person band will bring the songs from their seventh album “Kompass”. Before that, the stage will be set for the two singer/songwriters Jakob Busch and the Mayerin from Burgenland.

The next day, on August 24th, the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra will follow under its conductor Elisabeth Fuchs: Singer Monika Ballwein will lend her voice to the symphonic tribute to ABBA, “Thank you for the music”. The opening act, including Icelandic singer Thorsteinn Einarsson, will come from the far north.
