A call that was repeated throughout the world
Thousands of citizens demonstrated in major cities around the world as a show of strength and unity against the “fraud” of Nicolas Maduro and in support of the opponent Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia as president-elect and winner of those elections.
In Caracas, epicenter of the initiative of the Democratic Unity Platform (PUD), the big surprise was the reappearance of the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado in front of thousands of his followers, after spending two weeks under guard for fear of his “freedom and his life.”
Accompanied by several opponents, like Delsa Solórzano, Biagio Pilieri and Cesar Perez Vivas, Machado said that “the greatest civic feat in the history” of the country was carried out by the anti-Chavez movement through the candidate of González Urrutia, who he said “swept” the presidential elections.
“They thought that by persecuting our witnesses we were not going to get our records, but within 24 hours we had the records digitalized,” said Machado, in front of thousands of opponents who came to support her.
