Washington Abdala questioned the view of the neighboring country, which he shares with Colombia and Mexico, while also targeting the Frente Amplio.

The ambassador of Uruguay before the Organization of American States (OAS), Washington Abdala, He assured that the position of Brazil, Mexico and Colombia on the elections in Venezuela “does not seem very empathetic” to the citizens of the Caribbean country.

Abdala considered in an interview with VTV News that Venezuelans “have a vocation for their civic will and their electoral result to be respected, pointing out that Nicolas Maduro “Today he has to abdicate and retire from power.”

Asked about Brazil’s position, which is also shared by Mexico and Colombia, the leader said: “I am not going to get involved in the foreign policy of other states, each one knows how to go about what it has to go about.” However, he clarified that “this approach does not seem very sympathetic to Venezuelans.”

In this regard, he questioned the possibility of a dialogue between Maduro and opposition leaders for a new vote. “The winners are the people, the people and the Venezuelan democracy. And there is a de facto regime that has been in place until now that has an eviction order issued by its people,” he said.

Controversy between Abdala and the Broad Front for Venezuela

On the other hand, Abdala referred to the criticism that came to him from the Broad Front for his impassioned speech before the OAS, where he confirmed “the obvious, empirical and factual result” and declared: “The dictator has to go.”

Regarding the FA’s position, the leader said: “Is it difficult to describe this authoritarian regime as dictatorship? Is it hard to defend people who are being killed? Is it hard to be on the right side?

He was the Broad Front senator, Daniel Caggiani, who, in an interview with Channel 12, had stated: “I think he should represent us better. We pay him $15,000 to be there, right?”

“If I were someone who would be in charge of representing Uruguay in the OAS, it seems to me that this is not a speech in the spirit of the Uruguayan diplomacy”, Caggiani warned when referring to Abdala.
