That is clearly Leoben,” says Sebastian Dietrich, the sporting director of Union Gurten. Tomorrow, Friday, August 23rd, DSV Leoben will be visiting the Young Vikings. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. in the Klaus Roitinger Stadium. After two wins at the start of the season, SV Ried’s second team recently suffered a very painful 2:6 defeat in Sankt Anna. The Young Vikings want to show a completely different face tomorrow against the title contender from Styria. “Leoben is clearly the favorite, not only in this game, but in the Central Regional League in general. We want to avoid the mistakes we made in St. Anna and give Leoben a tough time. Hopefully we will find our chances,” says Wolfgang Fiala, SV Ried’s sports director.

Union Gurten, which has had a strong start to the season with seven points, is going into its ninth away game in a row tomorrow evening with a lot of confidence. The reason for this is the pitch renovation in Gurten. The opponent is Gleisdorf. “Our goal is clear: we want to score the next victory in Gleisdorf. I expect a game on equal terms,” says sports director Dietrich in an interview with OÖN. The Gurtners are hoping for more goals from striker Fabian Wimmleitner: the 32-year-old has already scored four goals in three games. In total, Wimmleitner has scored 96 times in 183 regional league games for Gurten. “Fabian Wimmleitner is a long-time favorite, you can always rely on him. He has a real nose for goal and gives more than 100 percent in every game,” says Dietrich.
