Uruguay wants Brazil and Colombia to join international pressure against Nicolás Maduro

He Minister of Foreign Affairs (MRREE), Omar Paganiniintends that Brazil and Colombia join the international pressure against the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for him to leave power after the current period of government, after which Uruguay and other countries in the region and the world did not recognize the results of the last elections in Venezuelaclaiming that they were irregular and that a Chavista victory is unlikely.

In a press conference held in the last few hours, the Uruguayan foreign minister positively valued that Brazil stop suggesting a repeat election as a possible solution to the political crisis unleashed in Venezuela.

“The act of July 28 is very delegitimized by the international community and that is where we are,” said Paganini, who highlighted the role of the Venezuelan opposition, led by Maria Corina Machadowhen exposing the irregularities throughout the electoral process.

About BrazilPaganini stressed the “significant change” in his position on the situation in Venezuela, something that seems to bring him closer to the Uruguayan vision and demands. “Brazil is no longer looking for a second election as a solution, which is an important change,” he said.

The Supreme Court of Justice certified the re-election of Nicolás Maduro

He Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela, accused of serving Chavismo, certified on Thursday the re-election of Maduro for a third six-year term, amid allegations of fraud by the opposition.

The Electoral Chamber of the TSJ “certifies in an unobjectionable manner the appraised electoral material and this chamber validates the results of the presidential election of July 28, 2024, issued by the National Electoral Councilwhere the citizen was elected Nicolas Maduro Moros as president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the constitutional period 2025-2031,” according to a sentence read Caryslia Rodriguezpresident of the court.

The decision responds to a request made by Maduro three weeks ago amid questions about his re-election, when his main rival Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutiadenounced fraud, claiming that he won with more than 60% of the votes.
