Blue and white newcomer came too late

Blue and white newcomer came too late

Exactly at ten o’clock yesterday, trainer Gerald Scheiblehner kicked off the winter preparations for the second division soccer team FC Blau-Weiß Linz. Curious: of all things, the only winter newcomer to date, Fabian Neumayr, came too late to start training. The 22-year-old from Salzburg is not very familiar with the events in Linz, he lost sight of his teammates on his private journey – and only arrived a few minutes later at the artificial turf pitch in Auwiesen.

The striker, who scored nine times for the Salzburg regional league team Seekirchen, wants to start immediately on the pitch. But he may still have competition: From today, the German Jakob Tranziska can prove himself in a trial training session. The 20-year-old scored 21 goals in 19 games in the Bayern League for Bamberg. In addition, central defenders Darius Amados (1860 Munich II) and Jakob Horner (Young Vikings) are on the test bench. Bernhard Janeczek and Aleksandar Kostic missed the start due to illness.

FC Juniors OÖ is still waiting for a new coach: the first unit was headed by Academy Sports Director Manuel Takacs together with Talent Manager Andreas Gahleitner. “We’re taking the time to look for a coach this week,” said Takacs. The 36-year-old does not rule out a longer commitment: “That is also an issue.”

Test player at Juniors and Steyr

On the other hand, Gahleitner is not a long-term topic for the post at the LASK cooperation club – the academy trainers Patrick Enengl (U18) and Mario Mühlbauer (U16) should rather stay with their youth teams. With Luka Duvnjak (All Saints’ Day), Dino Kovacevic (Oedt) and Fally Mayulu (Wolfsburg), Takacs welcomed three test pilots yesterday.

A trio also has league rivals Vorwärts Steyr as guests on trial: Tolga Günes and Bojan Lugonja, as well as Oguzhan Sivrikaya, who were recently without a club.
