US Secret Service agents have arrested a resident of the New York borough of Queens accused of numerous threats to kill former US President Donald Trump if he does not agree to step down as United States leader after losing the presidential election in November 2020. On Monday, January 10, the New York Daily News reported.
It is noted that 72-year-old Thomas Welnicki announced his intentions in July 2020 during an interview with Washington Capitol police officers. He promised to buy weapons and kill the head of the White House if he “loses the election and refuses to leave.” However, even after Trump’s resignation, the suspect did not calm down and continued to hatch plans for reprisals.
So, on January 4, 2021, he called the Secret Service office on Long Island and left voice messages stating that he would kill Trump, as well as 12 other people who supported the former American leader, including congressmen and senators.
In November 2021, Welnitsky again contacted the Secret Service and repeated the threats.
As a result, on January 10, 2022, the man was arrested. On the same day, he will appear in federal court in Brooklyn, where he will be formally charged. Deirdre’s lawyer von Dornum said that her client posed no danger. According to her, the man who threatened Trump tried in this way to express his indignation at “attempts to assassinate Lady Liberty.”
Earlier, on September 15, African-American Niviane Phelps from Miami pleaded guilty to death threats against US Vice President Kamala Harris. At the hearing in the district court, the woman confirmed that she sent her husband, who is serving a prison sentence, videos and photographs in which she threatened to kill Harris. In addition, Phelps admitted that she allegedly took $ 53 thousand from an unknown customer to attack the vice president 50 days after the video was recorded.
The suspect was detained on April 17. The woman questioned Harris, who is a black American of Jamaican-Indian descent.
Then it was reported that in addition to threats, 39-year-old Phelps expressed hatred of the American leader Joe Biden.
