The United States will inform the NATO Secretary General about the results of negotiations with the Russian Federation on January 11

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will be informed on Tuesday, January 11, about the results of negotiations with Russian representatives on strategic stability. First Deputy Secretary of State of the United States Wendy Sherman spoke about this on Monday, January 10.

“Very early tomorrow morning, I will travel to Brussels to meet with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg and brief the North Atlantic Council. I will also meet again with the Secretary General of the European External Action Service Stefano Sannino and inform the EU Political and Security Committee, ”Sherman said at a special telephone briefing for journalists following the talks, UrduPoint reported.

She added that these meetings will take place in the run-up to the NATO-Russia Council on Wednesday, where she will lead the delegation.

The talks between Russia and the United States on security guarantees ended in Geneva on January 10 and lasted approximately 7.5 hours. Discussions were held at the US Permanent Mission in Geneva in a format closed to the press.

The day before, a preliminary meeting took place in the format of a working dinner. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov said that the conversation was difficult, but businesslike. The diplomat stressed that Moscow is ready to listen to the US position, but a constructive dialogue is possible only in the context of revising the decisions of the Budapest summit on the future of Ukraine and Georgia in NATO.

Earlier Ryabkov stated that the Russian Federation was going to the meeting “not with outstretched hand,” the Russian side had a “clearly formulated task” that it would solve on its own terms.
