However, the candidate for senator for the List 10 He assured that he will continue along the path he has been paving. “I felt useful when I was Minister of Industry, when I was Minister of Tourism, I felt useful in my last years in the Senate, and I believe that I can contribute again from the Senate,” he assured in an interview with Informativo Sarandí.
“Does one have to be the one who wants to occupy the top position or do you feel that you can help from another position?” he asked. Meanwhile, when he was specifically asked about a possible candidacy for the IMM, he stressed: “I am aspiring to this (the Senate), that is what I say and that is what I have presented myself for.”
Support for Bordaberry in the Senate
The senatorial candidate continues to gain support within the party in view of the October elections to head a single list, the List 10; but also to consolidate himself as the next leader of the Colorados, disputing the place of the presidential candidate – and winner of the primaries – Andres Ojeda. Now, the arrival of the former minister of Tourism and former candidate Tabare Viera and, with it, an important sector of Batllistas.
Following the announcement of the agreement with the historic List 15 from the hand of the former president of Antel and also a former presidential candidate, Gabriel Gurméndez, and with a sector of Ciudadanos – who broke away, at the level of the candidacies for Senate, of Grow, the umbrella that brings together the support of Robert Silva—; In the middle of this month the alliance of Batllistas with Let’s go Uruguay from the addition of Viera to Bordaberry’s campaign. In this regard, Bordaberry pointed out the management of Viera and the Colorado Party in the Intendancy of Rivera as “a successful experience”, which in his opinion “is an example to follow”, as he pointed out in a press conference. With the former Minister of Tourism, other referents of Batllism also arrived on List 10, such as German Coutinho, Walter Verri, Tabare Hackenbruch and Adrian Juri.
For his part, Viera highlighted the Vamos Uruguay leader as a “leader” and a “great politician,” and highlighted his characteristics of “honesty, hard work and intelligence.”
In the current list of List 10, headed by Bordaberry, Gurméndez would be the first substitute while Viera would occupy the second place, with Coutinho as the substitute.
