Bank robbery in Mieders: Who saw this man?

The police released images from the surveillance camera.

The man entered the bank wearing a mask and demanded cash in German with a foreign accent, police said. He then fled on foot across adjacent fields in a northerly direction. There were no injuries. A manhunt involving a police helicopter and the special Cobra unit initially proved unsuccessful.

No “hot lead” yet

This has now been discontinued, said Larissa Gossner, senior officer at the State Criminal Police Office (LKA), on Tuesday afternoon. The search for the man is still ongoing, however. To date, investigators have not been able to report any “hot leads”. According to the LKA department head, there were three employees in the branch at the time of the robbery. There were therefore no customers in the bank. The amount of the loot was still unknown and was the subject of investigations. In the course of the search, a large number of patrols were deployed and checkpoints and roadblocks were set up, including on the nearby Brenner motorway (A13).
