From May 2nd to 9th, the referendum can be signed online and at municipal offices and magistrates.
If one counts the already existing declarations of support, the initiative should exceed the mark of 100,000 signatures. From then on, parliamentary treatment is mandatory. The initiative is supported, for example, by Martin Kreutner, former head of the international anti-corruption academy. The former head of the Liberal Forum Heide Schmidt is one of the supporters. Also proponents are ex-Auditor General Franz Fiedler, the former head of the economic and corruption prosecutor Walter Geyer and ex-OGH-President Irmgard Griss.
For decency, against corruption
The request calls for more decency and integrity in politics, a strengthening of the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, modern and comprehensive anti-corruption and transparency legislation as well as measures for freedom of the press, media promotion and the fight against advertising corruption.
In the event that introductory motions for further popular initiatives are submitted by the deadline before March 7th, it can be assumed that the registration week will also be used for these initiatives.
