Brussels. Following the example of Austria, the State Secretary for Youth Claudia Plakolm (VP) called for a “reality check” for young people, including EU laws. Every law would have to go through a youth check in order to foresee the effects on the next generations, said Plakolm at her first official meeting in Brussels.

The new head of the Directorate for State Security and Intelligence, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, described his previous appearances at ÖVP events on ORF – including wearing an ÖVP jacket at the side of Integration Minister Susanne Raab – as a “mistake”. “I wouldn’t do that again today,” said the former head of the Lower Austria State Office of Criminal Investigation.
VIENNA. The salaries of the more than 53,000 university employees employed under the university collective agreement will increase by 2.93 percent or a maximum of 116 euros on February 1st. The umbrella association of Austrian universities and the Public Service Union (GÖD) agreed on this yesterday.
