“We cannot continue to act as if nothing happened when there are 5,000 cases in Uruguay, and this should urge all of us to take responsibility for the issue. In other words, our action as citizens is to be responsible, but, at the same time, the government to take measures, which will evaluate them and see what they are, ”said Pereira.
Asked if he considered that restrictive measures had to be adopted, the former head of the PIT-CNT labor union assessed that “at least they must be studied.”
“And to study them, an honorary scientific advisory group must be convened, which will be the same as the one convened or the one understood by the Ministry of Public Health or the government,” he said.
In the first part of the pandemic, the Uruguayan Government was advised by a specially created Honorary Scientific Advisory Group (GACH), made up of academics, epidemiologists, specialists and teachers, among others.
