Police checked 33,000 2G records in stores on Tuesday

Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) named these balance sheet figures from the first day of the mandatory 2G controls in retail in the press foyer after the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

Since yesterday, retailers have been obliged to request proof of vaccination or recovery from customers – at the latest at the cash desk. The rule also applies in service companies. Many retailers, especially shopping centers, use stamps, sluices and, in some cases, securities for checks.

Karner reiterated that the police were taking a “sharp action” against those who did not obey the rules. This is at the same time a “fairness action” for those who adhere to the measures. The first day showed that the measures are being taken seriously. The trade and customers have shown themselves to be cooperative. “The controls work to a high degree,” said the interior minister.
