“We request that a thorough investigation be opened to determine the responsibilities of those who determined and ordered the reported actions, which are manifestly contrary to the guarantees of the National Constitution and International Human Rights Treaties,” the court filing states.
The body requests that they be made available the measures necessary to determine the criminal liability of the public officials involved. The complaint was filed in federal court and was handled by the judge Maria Servini.
The criminal complaint was filed after the repression of the security forces during the march on August 28, events that were repeated yesterday.
“The violations mentioned violate the basic principles of police action, which must strictly adhere to the principle of reasonableness, avoiding any type of abusive, arbitrary or discriminatory action that involves physical or moral violence against people.”the Commission warned.
The organization reported that people were injured as a result of the “excessive and disproportionate use of tear gas,” blows, and kicks inflicted by police officers.
They highlighted the case of two retired brothers who required assistance from those present due to the bruises they had suffered. One of them received a blow to the head and his glasses were broken.
For the Commission, the Federal Police officers “used disproportionate, irrational and abusive force using so-called non-lethal weapons.” They stressed that there was no conflict, as the people were demonstrating peacefully.
The complaint states that the LN+ and Telefe reporters were hit by the gases directly in their faces, causing itching in their eyes and mouth and allergies on their faces. A Radio Gráfica photographer also became a victim of the irritating gas.
The Commission warned that “In cases where the State is directly involved, the investigation and resolution of the case must be even more rigorous and precise.”
