The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced price regulation for a number of products

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at a meeting on Wednesday, January 12, introduced state regulation of prices for buckwheat, sugar, flour, pasta, milk, sunflower and butter, chicken and eggs until the end of the quarantine due to coronavirus. The government meeting was broadcast on his YouTube channel.

The level of the trade markup for wholesale prices will not exceed 10%. The explanatory note to the document notes that in 2021 there is a trend towards an increase in consumer prices for food. The Ukrainian authorities have chosen state regulation as a measure of control.

Also, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will conduct monitoring of prices for these products, as well as for a number of other goods, for the purpose of analysis.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that the government, against the backdrop of rising gas prices, is developing a mechanism to support producers of cheap bread and a number of social food products.

On January 9, the adviser to the President of Ukraine on economic issues Oleg Ustenko allowed the introduction of food coupons in the country. According to him, the decision may be caused by a rise in food prices due to a sharp jump in the cost of Russian gas.

On December 31, the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk said that in 2022 the country will face a further economic decline, an energy crisis and other risks. The head of the political council noted that labor migration is growing in the country, people are losing jobs and, even if they are employed, they do not receive deserved pay.

On December 25, ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman said that the country’s authorities were guilty of provoking an energy crisis. According to him, there is a centralization of monetary resources, local budgets will be deprived.
