The female tiger, which weighed only 20 kilograms at the time it was found, was initially looked after and nursed up by the animal keepers. The dead tip of the tail was amputated. In a two-and-a-half hour operation, the vets finally tried to reconstruct the animal’s jaw.
Siberian tigers are critically endangered
Amur-Tiger, also called Siberian Tiger known are native to Russia and China. The species is considered endangered. The WWF and the Russian government estimated the number of wild specimens at just 480 to 540 animals in 2015. Such counts are very time-consuming and difficult.
According to the animal welfare organization WWF, heavy snowfalls in the Far East of Russia have already caused major problems for the wild animals twice in the still young winter.
