A terrible act occurred on Wednesday night in Sollenau (district of Wr, Neustadt-Land). A 38-year-old and his six-year-old daughter were hit by a train and killed. There is suspicion of murder and suicide, said the police. The father is said to have gone with the child on the tracks of the southern runway in front of an approaching Railjet. He and his daughter from the Neunkirchen district were fatally injured.
The emergency services were notified shortly after 10.30 p.m. A large number of helpers was in action, announced the Sollenau volunteer fire brigade. Because the train driver, who was in shock, initially spoke of three people, search parties were on duty. However, no one was found.
The girl’s parents are said to have been separated, according to media reports, so custody was shared. The “Kurier” reports that the 38-year-old announced in the summer that he would throw himself in front of a train with his daughter. Investigations into dangerous threats have been discontinued.
The 33-year-old mother of the girl was cared for by a crisis intervention team yesterday. As the “Niederösterreichische Nachrichten” (“NÖN”) reported, the couple is said to have had two children. The second daughter is said to have been in the care of the mother.
The six-year-old who was killed is said to have attended the first grade of an elementary school in the Neunkirchen district. A crisis intervention team was also on duty there on Wednesday. According to an online report, the police were recently on duty for domestic violence. The executive did not disclose any information about any operations.
