One day after the transfer of Filip Twardzik, the athletes signed the next defender: Oumar Sako comes from Beroe Stare Zagora. The 25-year-old has only played in the current eighth of the Bulgarian league since the summer. “He is characterized by a very good physique, is strong in tackles and headers,” said sporting director Radovan Vujanovic about the 1.91 meter tall central defender from Ivory Coast.
Half a year in Europe
Sako is a late starter: he played in his home country for the Ivorian talent factory of record champions ASEC Mimosas until summer 2020. For a year he then defended for Al-Kharitiyath in Qatar, from where Zagora brought him to Europe. Sako mastered the transition to European football without any problems. Right from the start he was a regular player. In 18 games he scored and prepared a goal.
Sako signed until the summer of 2026 and should bring his force into play with the athletes.
