The objective is to reduce the tax burden in San Isidro to boost economic activity.

“In line with the efforts that all Argentines are making to normalize the economy, we have decided to eliminate the municipal fuel tax,” Lanús announced on Twitter.

The mayor Ramon Lanus announced that San Isidro will go down taxes, to the Eliminate the fee charged for each litre of fuel for 8 years. The decision, which is in line with the measures of the National Government, was announced by the president after holding a meeting with the Minister of Economy of the Nation, Luis Caputo. The objective is to reduce the tax burden in San Isidro to boost economic activity.

“In line with the efforts that all Argentines are making to normalize the economy, we have decided to eliminate the municipal fuel tax,” Lanús announced on Twitter. “We understand that the money the State spends is money that had to be paid by someone who earned it by working. We are taking care of the money, saving public spending and that is why we can start to lower taxes,” he added about the austerity of his administration. And he concluded: “We made a commitment to the people of San Isidro and we are doing it.”

The tax, formally called the “Environmental Protection Service Fee,” implies a cost for residents of $6 for each liter of gasoline they load. In the case of LNG, the cost is $4 per liter. This is a tax that has been charged since 2016.

In order to make the elimination of the tax effective, it must be approved by the local Deliberative Council. Ramón Lanús’ administration will send the corresponding draft ordinance.

Among the foundations of the norm, it is worth highlighting the fact that it contributes to the process of lowering prices and recovering economic activity, reducing the tax burden, “which will represent an economic incentive to promote local development and encourage greater economic activity in the District.” It is the first step on a path that will help reduce the tax pressure of the Municipality.

This measure is possible thanks to the fact that the Municipality of San Isidro has been working hard to reduce public spending. Through the renegotiation of services and transparent and competitive tenders that allow for lower costs, savings of 7 billion pesos were achieved in just four contracts.
