The first film focused on Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), 11, and the five emotions in her brain, directed by a star-studded cast: Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader) and Ira (Lewis Black).
What is Inside Out 2 about?
The film, which premiered June 14, follows the five familiar emotions from the first Inside Out through the onset of puberty. But when Riley heads off to hockey camp, Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Shame (Paul Walter Hauser), Envy (Ayo Edebiri) and Boredom (Adele Exarchopoulos) take control of the control room, driving the originals from their post.
Kelsey Mann directed Inside Out 2 and developed the story with producer Meg LeFauve. The film had the second-highest opening weekend of 2024, grossing $155 million at the domestic box office and another $140 million internationally. The animated family comedy surpassed the $1 billion threshold and currently has a global gross of $1.5 billion.
LeFauve and Dave Holstein wrote the screenplay. Dan Scanlon, Jonas Rivera and Pete Doctor served as executive producers. Kim Collins and Magdiela Hermida Duhamel served as associate producers. Mark Nielsen produced the film.
