AUA introduces 2G rule for crew members

Before that, 3G evidence, i.e. vaccinated, recovered or tested, was sufficient. Nothing will change for the ground staff, the 3G rule will continue to apply. The Salzburger Nachrichten (SN) reported on Thursday.

The reason for this are the different Covid regulations in the countries being flown to, which also change at short notice and make deployment planning more and more difficult. “We were and are increasingly confronted with challenging framework conditions during the entire pandemic,” wrote the AUA on Thursday in response to an APA request, referring to legal requirements specifically for unvaccinated crew members. The top priority is the health of the crews and passengers and stable flight operations.

From March 1st, anyone who has not been vaccinated or recovered will no longer be assigned to services and will therefore also lose their salary. If you still get vaccinated, you can fly again as soon as the vaccination protection is upright. There will be no additional pressure on non-vaccinated people, “we accept this as a personal decision,” said the AUA. However, the innovation should not affect too many people: The vaccination rate in the group is around 94 percent. The measure was also coordinated with the works council.

The responsible union vida wants to check whether the 2G obligation is permissible under labor law. At the moment, however, this cannot be estimated because it is not yet clear on what legal basis the 2G rule at the AUA will be based. A vida spokesman told the APA that the exact form of the law on general compulsory vaccination will also play a role.
