The water levels are expected to continue to rise during Saturday evening. The outlook for Sunday does not bode well either, as increasing rain is expected in the morning hours. The country’s hydrographic service is warning of local flooding, which is “possible everywhere”.
“The intensive, widespread rain in Upper Austria continues, and from Sunday midday the precipitation will increase again,” the Hydrographic Service informed in its press release on Saturday afternoon. In the small and medium-sized waters in Upper Austria, one to ten-year Flooding recorded.
Specifically, the Hydrographic Service reported the following developments:
- On the Danube from Achleiten to Linz, the early warning limits will be almost reached on Sunday morning.
- At the Steyr (Ortskai)/Enns gauge, forecasts indicate that water levels will continue to rise (as of Saturday evening).
- In Schärding (Inn) and Mauthausen (Donau) the limit for alarm level 0 (pre-warning) was exceeded.
- The maximum water levels of the Danube below the mouth of the Enns in Mauthausen and Grein are expected during the night into Monday.
