In sports and culture in particular, more will be allowed again from Friday, as Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Störe said at a press conference in Oslo on Thursday evening. Outdoor sporting activities for children and young people can therefore take place normally again.
Groups of 20 people are recommended indoors, and contact sports are also possible there again. For adults, a limit of 20 people and keeping your distance is recommended in covered rooms.
In addition, the ban on serving drinks that has been in force since before Christmas will be reduced: restaurants and pubs are allowed to serve alcoholic beverages to seated guests at least until 11 p.m. The number of participants for indoor events with fixed seating will be increased to up to 200 people, without fixed seating to 30 indoors and 200 outdoors.
“We are in a new phase of the pandemic,” said Störe. Many more people have been vaccinated than in December, and a large number of rapid tests have also been purchased. Therefore, one can relax several of the measures introduced four weeks ago. At the same time, the omicron variant dominates the country. The number of new infections rose and the infection peak is still to come, but significantly fewer are becoming seriously ill, Støre said. However, some restrictions would have to remain in place in order to keep the pandemic under control.
