At the end of 2020, shortly before being dismissed by Congress, Vizcarra was the center of a scandal when it was revealed that, along with almost 500 other people – all officials and their spouses – they had been vaccinated in a privileged way.
These people were inoculated with doses intended for clinical trials of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, several months before the vaccination campaign began in Peru.
Months later, the Peruvian press revealed that Vizcarra had been vaccinated again, this time with two doses of the drug from the American laboratory Pfizer.
