On Tuesday evening, a man was driving his car on a road in the municipality of Uttendorf that was closed due to flooding. The vehicle was caught in the water and swept away.
Witnesses alerted emergency services
“Luckily, there were two young men who saw this and immediately alerted the fire department and the rescue services,” says Franz Kurzmann, head of operations at the Uttendorf Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to the Uttendorf fire department, the Mauerkirchen fire department was also alerted. Since the comrades were still working on a flood response, they were quickly ready.

This prevented anything worse from happening. The man was only slightly injured and the fire department had to secure the car so that it wouldn’t be washed under the bridge. A towing service then lifted the car out of the water.
