US intelligence announced uncertainty about the future aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

United States intelligence has not come to definitive conclusions that Russia intends to take military action against Ukraine. This statement was made by National Security Adviser to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan on Thursday, January 13.

“The intelligence community did not give an assessment that the Russians really decided to choose a military course of action in Ukraine,” he said at a briefing, a recording of the speech was published on the White House YouTube page.

He also added that the United States believes in the possibility of reaching diplomatic agreements with Russia to strengthen the security of Europe.

The press conference was held following the completion of the first meeting of the Russia-NATO Council in 2.5 years.

On January 13, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova indicated that the Ukrainian authorities were trying to make Russia a party to the conflict in the southeast of the country in order to justify their inaction to resolve the situation.

Earlier that day, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov announced possible provocations from Ukraine, which is looking for a reason to refuse to implement the Minsk agreements. The deputy minister pointed out that the most unthinkable things can come to Kiev’s mind, so it is necessary to put an end to this and “return Ukraine to the implementation of the Minsk agreements on Donbass.”

Kiev launched a military operation against the Donbass, whose residents did not agree with the results of the change of power, in 2014. In this situation, the Ukrainian authorities blame Moscow, which has repeatedly stressed that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict.
