Australian government cancels Djokovic’s visa

The Australian Department of Immigration said on Friday. Djokovic can appeal the decision in court. The 20-time Grand Slam tournament winner is threatened with expulsion again.

A first-time visa rescission was ruled invalid by an Australian court last Monday. Four days later, Immigration Secretary Alex Hawke exercised his veto and banned the Serb from entering the country again. “Today I exercised my right to void Mr. Novak Djokovic’s visa,” Hawke said in a statement, “on the basis that it is in the public interest to do so.”

He did not take the decision lightly and carefully checked all the documents that the immigration authorities, the Australian border guard and Mr Djokovic presented to him.

It is expected that Novak Djokovic will also take legal action on the second visa withdrawal.
