“They grow up so fast,” is what parents think every now and then when they look at their offspring. Perhaps Josef “Ferdl” Stockinger on Wednesday evening, this thought occurred to me. A huge party was being held in the Linz Music Theatre for one of his children: the Genussland Oberösterreich, which he launched 20 years ago as a state councillor.

And the Genussland family celebrated with us: starting with “Bacchus”embodied by Raimund Stangl lying in the middle of vegetables, fruit, cheese and meat, represented the Genussland logo come to life, to Genussland Chairwoman State Councillor Michaela Langer-Weninger (VP) and Head of Department Markus Scharner. Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP) was also among the well-wishers, as was the spokesman for the innkeepers in Upper Austria Thomas Mayr-Stockinger and Federal Master Confectioner Leo JindrakLike many other party guests, he was a Genussland partner from the very beginning. And as such, he showed up with a giant cake. It goes without saying that it was a Linzer cake.

However, on this once again rather mild evening in Linz city center, the focus was on others: producers, gourmet farmers, marketing partners and the team behind the scenes. They were spoiled with delicacies in solid and liquid form. There was sparkling wine from Fruchtveredelung Wurm, Frizzante from Weinbau Gmeiner, Eschlböck Chardonnay Reserve or Grüner Veltliner from Schiefermair, for example. Or “leichtroda” rosé from “Inviadla Weinbau Költringer” and Zweigelt from Gmeiner.
