The son of Queen Elizabeth II, suspected of rape, was deprived of royal patronage and military ranks. This was reported on January 13 in Sky News, citing a statement from Buckingham Palace.
“With the approval and consent of the Queen, the honorary military ranks and royal patronages of the Duke of York have been returned to the Queen. The Duke of York will have no public duties and will defend himself in this matter as a private individual,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
At the moment, the Queen’s son is being accused in a rape case.
In September 2019, human rights activist Virginia Giuffre accused Prince Andrew of raping her when she was 17. Then the girl filed a lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan. She said that American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of organizing the sex trade and involving minors in prostitution, was also involved in the incident. Soon it became known that Epstein committed suicide in a correctional center in New York. In July 2020, it became known that British citizen Ghislaine Maxwell, who was detained in the United States on suspicion of sexual exploitation of minors, could testify against British Prince Andrew and other high-ranking acquaintances of Epstein. Prince Andrew denies any connection with Giuffre.
