Ukraine is fully prepared to become a NATO member, Andriy Yermak, head of the country’s presidential office, said on Friday, January 14, during a discussion in the Atlantic Council.
“I think now is the time to be very honest, transparent about Ukraine’s prospects in NATO. Over a certain period, Ukraine has shown its adherence to principles, that we are absolutely ready to be a member of NATO,” he said.
According to Yermak, Ukraine plans to get specific deadlines on this issue at a future NATO summit to be held in Madrid this summer.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on January 14 that the North Atlantic Alliance has not yet set a deadline for Ukraine and Georgia to join the bloc. He also said that NATO and Ukraine will sign an agreement in the coming days to strengthen cooperation in the cyber sphere, including Ukraine’s access to a platform for sharing information about malware.
On the same day, Vladimir Zelensky invited American leader Joe Biden to organize trilateral talks with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
