More than 2,500 drivers were checked and 52 were sanctioned with positive alcohol levels

The National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) carried out checks on national roads to control alcohol driving during the spring festivities.

The National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) deployed a coordinated operation on Saturday on five national routes and critical traffic points. During the day, alcohol and documentation controls were carried out to reduce risks and prevent road accidents during the Spring Day celebrations.In total, 2,555 vehicles of all types were checked.

The operations were concentrated on national routes 205, 7, 8, 9 and 12, where ANSV agents also verified the proper placement of license plates, the use of seat belts, child seats, and helmets for motorcyclists. They also controlled the presence of roadside drivers and the use of phones while driving On the Pan-American Highway, two dangerous and prohibited practices that represent a serious risk for all road users.

The controls were carried out at strategic points such as Uribelarrea (RN 205), Luján (RN 7), Larena (RN 8), Lima (RN 9) and Zárate (RN 12), selected for their relevance, being the tolls that delimit the entrances and exits to the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires. The operation was carried out in coordination with the National Gendarmerie, Autopista del Oeste, Corredores Viales SA and Caminos del Río Uruguay SA

Drivers penalized: the reasons

The operation, which began in the afternoon and lasted until the evening, resulted in the sanctioning of 155 drivers: 52 for having tested positive for alcohol and 32 for driving with a hidden license plate and/or in an irregular manner, among the main violations. In addition, 97 driving licenses were confiscated.

The ANSV thus seeks to rreduce the risks associated with driving under the influence of alcohol, one of the main causes of serious accidents, especially during these types of holidays. In this regard, it is worth noting that yesterday was the Day of Spring without Yellow Stars, an initiative that seeks to remember the victims of road accidents and promote responsible driving, especially among young people.

Furthermore, by carrying out these controls simultaneously at several points, The ANSV also aims to raise awareness among drivers about the importance of respecting traffic regulations and discouraging dangerous behaviour.
