North Korea said the last launch of two ballistic missiles was from a railroad missile system. This became known on Saturday, January 15th.
“North Korea said a railroad missile system conducted an exercise on Friday: two tactical guided missiles were launched towards the Sea of Japan,” South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported, citing the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
It is alleged that this was a shooting exercise aimed at “testing and evaluating the skill of actions.” Two launched tactical guided missiles successfully hit a given target in the East Sea.
On January 14, a North Korean missile landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan. The missile launch by North Korea was the third this year.
On January 11, North Korea also launched an unidentified projectile towards the Sea of Japan. Presumably, it was the launch of a short-range ballistic missile from a ground-based installation.
Prior to this, on January 5, the DPRK confirmed the test of a hypersonic missile, and also estimated its flight range at 700 km. According to North Korean sources, the projectile “hit the target accurately.”
