The reason: the boy’s parents presented a mask exemption certificate after the Christmas holidays, so the student was allowed to stay away from class without excuse, according to the Styrian education department. The nine-year-old was not obliged to take the test outdoors, according to the authorities after consultation with the school management, participation was voluntary.
In a post on Facebook, which was shared thousands of times, it was initially said that the nine-year-old “had” to take the test outside. But according to a report in the “Kleine Zeitung”, the parents agreed and their son absolutely wanted to take the test. On the other hand, the FP Federal Councilor Markus Leinfellner criticized that the nine-year-old had been treated “like a leper”. There must be “corresponding consequences” for this.
The family is about to change residence and thus change schools. Nevertheless, the school authorities must check the medical basis of the submitted certificate. According to the “Kleiner Zeitung”, the issuing doctor is considered to be opposed to vaccination.
According to the Education Directorate, there are more and more cases in which teachers ask “when parents reject corona measures”.
