At 5:36 a.m., the Molln and Leonstein fire departments were alerted to a traffic accident with a person trapped on the Haunoldmühl state road. A car had touched an oncoming truck and, as a result of the glancing collision, had slid past the truck onto the steep embankment.
Vehicle secured against tipping over
The doors of the car were so damaged that the driver could not get out of the vehicle. “It looked wilder at first than it actually was,” says Armin Steiner, fire chief of the Molln fire department. Since there was a danger that the vehicle could tip over the steep embankment, the fire department secured the car. Only then could the rescue workers get to the driver. While they looked after the woman, the firefighters opened the doors of the vehicle.
