The White House called the timing of the “invasion” of Russia in Ukraine

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Friday, January 14, during a briefing, said that Russia could attack Ukraine between mid-January and mid-February. The broadcast was on Twitter the US administration.

According to her, before the “invasion”, Moscow will undertake information operations against Ukraine, accusing Kiev of preparing attacks on the Donbass.

“We have seen this before, it takes us back to 2014, including sabotage and information operations to accuse Ukraine of preparing attacks on Russian forces in eastern Ukraine. Russian military plans are to begin such activity a few weeks before the military invasion, which could begin between mid-January and mid-February, she said.

Answering questions from journalists, Psaki continued to insist that the Russian Federation could deliberately create a pretext for an “invasion” of Ukraine, after which it could directly carry out aggression.

Earlier in the day, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the US had evidence that Russia was preparing a pretext to invade Ukraine. According to him, we are talking about “a group of operatives who are preparing to conduct an operation under a false flag.”

On January 10, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov noted that Moscow had no intentions to attack Ukraine and could not have it. All measures for the combat training of troops are carried out within Russian territory.

In recent weeks, a number of Western media reported on the alleged plans of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So, on January 7, The New York Times compiled and published a map with the alleged location of Russian troops along the border with Ukraine.

On December 30, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that the organization does not see much danger from the Russian military near its borders. According to him, the deployment of Russian military personnel “is not critical,” and the Russian Federation itself “is not at all ready for an offensive right now.”

On December 25, Dmitry Peskov said that Russia had never attacked anyone first. He stressed that the statements of Ukraine and the United States about the “aggressive actions” of the Russian Federation are made in order to place more NATO military equipment near the country’s borders.

Since 2014, the Kiev authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict. The issues of its settlement are being discussed in the Minsk and Normandy formats.
