Lanus qualified tonight for the semi-finals of the South American Cup after winning as a visitor in a penalty shootout 6 to 5 Independent Medellin from Colombia, after tying 1-1 in regular time, for the rematch of the quarter-finals.
Goalkeeper “Granate” Nahuel Losada was instrumental in the penalty shots, as he blocked Pablo Lima’s shot, while Colombian Jherson Mosquera sent his shot over the crossbar.
For the Argentine team, Walter Bou, Eduardo Salvio, Julio Soler, Felipe Peña Biafore, Jonathan Torres and Marcelino Moreno scored, while Carlos Izquierdoz hit the post.
Meanwhile, Leyser Chaverra, Francisco Chaverra, Luis Sandoval, José Aja and Jimer Fory scored for DIM.
The ninety minutes ended with a 1-1 draw, with an own goal in favor of Lanús by Daniel Londoño, at 39 minutes of the first half.
For their part, the equaliser for the Colombians came from Mender García, 16 minutes into the second half.
The 2013 champion now awaits the winner of the tie between Cruzeiro and Paraguay’s Libertad, whose first leg went to the Brazilians by 2-0.
