The Kazakh cafe Discovery, where Russian woman Maria Kim, who was shot dead during the riots in the country, worked on Friday, January 14, published a video showing the last hours of a woman’s life.

A 26-year-old mother of many children was shot dead at the entrance of the house during protests in the Zhambyl region in the city of Taraz. Kim encountered rioters on her way home from work.

Earlier, the brother of the deceased spoke about the tragedy. According to him, the attack took place at the height of the protests, on January 6. The girl was shot at point-blank range as she was returning home. According to the man, Maria’s father lives in this city. There she worked and studied.

The deceased was an administrator at a Discovery coffee shop near her home. When the riots began, the employees of the establishment asked the owner to send a car for them, but he refused. As a result, the girl had to close the cafe herself. At that moment, she was attacked by looters who wanted to rob the establishment. The Russian woman was stabbed seven times and then shot in the head. She died on the spot from her injuries.

On January 14, a message about the tragedy was received by the Russian Consulate General in Alma-Ata. Employees of the diplomatic mission contacted the mother of the deceased and sent an appeal to the leadership of the region with a request to take control of the situation. Also, a request was sent to the law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan for a thorough investigation of the crime.

Russian woman Maria Kim was 26 years old. In 2010, after graduating from school, she moved from the city of Tavda, Sverdlovsk Region, to her father in Taraz. She left three children.
