On a live Twitter service from a seized synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, the attacker is heard saying that he is “going to die” and wants to communicate with his sister.
In the comments, users are asked to release at least the children whose voices are heard in the broadcast.
According to The Dallas Morning News, the police are aware of a live broadcast showing the inside of the synagogue. In addition to law enforcement officers, the FBI and the US Department of Homeland Security are involved in the special operation.
Several ambulances, fire trucks and an armored police truck are on duty not far from the synagogue building.
An unidentified armed man took hostages at a synagogue in Texas earlier in the day, on January 15th. Special forces are on the scene, residents of nearby areas have been evacuated.
The rabbi is also among the hostages. The police are negotiating with the attacker.
