Porsche driver fled after an accident on the A2

An initially unknown driver of a high-horsepower Porsche Panamera e-hybrid was traveling much too fast, which is why he lost control and crashed into a tree. He was then taken away by an “escape helper” in a black SUV. Both men could not be questioned for the time being, the police said.

The accident happened on Friday afternoon at the A2 motorway Lieboch in the direction of Vienna. Apparently because of excessive speed, the Porsche driver left the road, skidded across a green verge and crashed head-on into a tree. At the same time, a 48-year-old man from Styria wanted to drive his car onto the autobahn, his wife and child were also in the vehicle. The man managed to brake just in time in front of the crashed sports car. There was no collision, but the 48-year-old’s car was damaged because of the gravel thrown up and a torn-out road marker.

Shortly thereafter, a young driver stopped a black SUV at the scene of the accident. Apparently he knew the accident driver, he instructed him several times not to give any information and not to speak to anyone. The two men fled together in the SUV via the A2 in the direction of Vienna. They left the sports car at the scene of the accident.

It was not immediately known whether the driver involved in the accident was injured or was under the influence of alcohol. Notes on the driver were found in the vehicle – both the accident vehicle and the getaway car are registered to the same company. The investigation was still ongoing as of Sunday.
