“Would have made my everyday life easier”: Mühlviertler faked a throat test

A young man from the district of Perg was unsuccessful in trying to get a certificate of recovery by using a fake throat test. The scam was discovered and the police launched an investigation. During his interrogation at the Perg police station, the man admitted that he had submitted someone else’s saliva sample for PCR testing. He received the positive sample from an unknown male person whom he met in Linz.

The idea of having a recovery certificate was tempting and would have made everyday life easier for him, said the Mühlviertler about his motive. The public prosecutor’s office announced that the positive gargle test sample and the negative PCR post-test had been secured, the police said on Sunday evening. The investigation is ongoing.

A similar case recently concerned the authorities in Tyrol. In Wörgl, the attempt by two friends to swindle a corona certificate was exposed on Friday. False information was found on the test street, and now a series of ads are pouring in. Negligent endangerment of people through communicable diseases, falsification of evidence and use of someone else’s ID are the offenses that the police listed in a broadcast after initial investigations.
