Vessel traffic in the Bosphorus Strait has been stopped. The reason was the breakdown of the dry cargo ship’s engine. This was announced on Sunday, January 16, by the General Directorate of the Turkish Coast Guard.
“Traffic on the Bosphorus was suspended in both directions due to the breakdown of the cargo ship Brave Night,” the Anadolu agency quoted the message as saying.
The ship broke down in the north of the bridge of Sultan Selim Yavuz during a voyage from the city of Tekirdag to Romania.
The tugboat Kurtarma-8 and the boat Kegm-6 were sent to the area of the incident.
In December 2021, the movement of ships through the Bosphorus was suspended due to a tanker accident. Then the anchor mechanism broke down on the USICHEM vessel with sunflower oil. The tanker was moving along the Bosphorus in the direction from north to south, the incident occurred in the Anadolu Kavaghi area. Navigation in the Bosphorus was restored on the same day.
On September 25, the Russian and Turkish dry cargo ships Rusich-10 and Tahsin Imamoglu collided in the Bosphorus Strait. There were no deaths or injuries, only ships were damaged.
