The case of a nine-year-old elementary school student in Voitsberg in Styria, who, as reported, wrote a general education test outdoors at minus one grade in front of the school, continues to cause waves because the school director had rejected the mask exemption certificate submitted by the parents. The certificate comes from a doctor who is known to be a vaccine skeptic.
Now the school management is being bombarded with hateful e-mails, as the “Kleine Zeitung” reports. On Saturday morning there was a poster on the school wall. “Shame on Voitsberg” read on it. The removal was initiated immediately, says Mayor Bernd Osprian. It is not known who hung the poster. As reported, the boy’s parents knew that he was writing the test outdoors. It was also his parents who took a photo of him, which quickly spread on social media channels. The nine-year-old is now being represented by the well-known Viennese lawyer Nikolaus Rast on behalf of the association “Bündnis Kinderschutz Österreich”. “We will check the behavior of the school director for a criminal content,” says the lawyer.
According to Rast, the headmistress should have accepted the mask exemption certificate, because at the time it had not yet been revoked by the Styrian Education Directorate. “
prosecution announced
In any case, the child should not have been forbidden to enter the school.” Rast sees a violation of the duty of supervision. A complaint will be filed with the public prosecutor’s office against the director next week.
The Styrian children’s and youth advocate Denise Schiffrer-Barac warns, however, that the elementary school student is being “instrumentalised and abused to a certain extent”. The personality rights of the nine-year-old were violated by the photo of the boy on social media. “The parents have a duty here to protect the well-being of the child,” says the Styrian KiJa boss.
