Swiss Medical began the path to receive contributions from affiliates without going through social works

Swiss Medical is the first large prepaid company to do so. With this decision, the contributions of 600 thousand members will go directly to the prepaid and will avoid social works.

The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, reported this Thursday that the private health company of Claudio Belocopitt, Swiss Medical began the process to join the Health Insurance Agent Registry. According to the Government, this will allow that affiliates derive the contributions made by their employers directly to the prepaid and should not triangulate them through social works or other intermediaries.

“Beneficiaries will freely choose their health coverage without additional costs or tolls that do not generate any value and act as cash black,” Adorni reported in his usual press conference at Casa Rosada.

Despite the clashes that Swiss Medical and the Government had at the beginning of the year, the Belocopitt company is the first major prepaid company to join the Health Insurance Agent Registry.

Until now, a registered worker derives part of his social contributions to the corresponding social work of his category and then that money is used and transferred to the prepaid. In this triangulation, the Intermediation can cost between 3% and 7%, which means for social works approximately $8.6 billion per month.

What is the universe of people impacted by the measure?

The impact of the measure will be a hard blow for social works. Some 600,000 people will stop triangulating to pay Swiss Medical. This universe represents 60% of the total prepaid affiliates.

If other companies join in, the change would impact millions of people. According to official estimates, 15% of the Argentine health system is made up of private medicine companies. That is, around six million people have prepaid. Of that total, five million pay through the triangulation system.
