why it is celebrated every October 5

October 4, 2024 – 22:30

A date to honor the teachers and professors who helped in our growth and training process.

Each October 5th marks World Teachers’ Day. People who are dedicated to teaching play a fundamental role in the training, growth and learning of people. They complete and complement the education provided by families and some students remember good teachers all their lives.

In this sense, it is important to honor with a day the teachers who marked our lives. Each year, the celebration has a headline motto, which in 2024 is “Valuing the voice of the teacher: towards a new social contract with education.” The objective is to foster an environment conducive to professional development.

Why World Teachers’ Day is celebrated every October 5

October 5 was established as the World Teachers’ Day by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Labor Organization (ILO). The choice of the date was in commemoration of a Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers, to discuss the duties, but above all the rights of the teaching profession worldwide.

That conference was held in 1966, and since then, the work of the teacher has become increasingly important. Currently, education plays a fundamental role and it is believed that more educational professionals will be needed from now on. And this is one of the main themes of the 2030 agenda.
